CITIES FOR PEOPLE?
MAKING CITY AND THE CIVIC ECONOMY
Beyond bottom-up vs top-down thinking, we look at new alliances between civic society and city governments that help develop working tools for affordable housing, and work towards socially viable and diverse cities. What is the key to participatory urban policies? How can an empowered civic society, actively involved in urban development, also influence the question of new social contracts for cities? We discuss these topics with mayors and representatives of reformist European cities.
