16:00 — Outdoor warm up DJ Set by C O S M I C | C O M P O S I T I O N S
20:00 — Àbáse
21:00 — 30/70
30/70 is a cosmic mélange of boom-bap dynamics, neo-soul harmonies and jazz-funk licks, all steeped in a deep spiritual tradition. Despite their influences coming from across the pacific, the 30/70 sound is unmistakably Melbourne and for anyone admiring the scene from afar, it would seem fair to wonder if there was something in the water. 30/70 are the latest collective to emerge from this buzzing soul scene.
Working closely with Paul Bender of Hiatus Kaiyote
and Jamil Zacharia to produce their newly released record (out on Rhythm Section
), the sound is a sublime statement; at once a cry for help and a call to arms, it balances delicate poetry and potent aggression with ease – all of this done with a beguiling pop sensibility.
Àbáse is a collaborative project by Szabolcs Bognar aka Szabi.
As a keyboard player, DJ and producer Szabi has been active in the Hungarian jazz and hip hop scene for many years. He’s been a member of several successful acts, including SoulClap Budapest
, Amoeba Band
and The Mabon Dawud Republic
After residing and collaborating in New York, Paris and Brazil, Szabi created Àbáse to release his original music with a broad range of collaborators with whom he fuses the rich traditional sounds of the african diaspora with hip hop, jazz and electronic elements.
Àbáse will perform with a 5 piece band, playing brand new unreleased material.
