Rufus Coates & the Blackened Trees
The Irish dark folk / blues combo Rufus Coates & the Blackened Trees has been located in Berlin since last year.
Everytime You'll See is the first single release from the self-titled debut album, which will be released in autumn on the German-speaking market. In Ireland, the record was already voted the album of the week in the Irish Times and even secured the number one of the iTunes Blues charts. The deep voice of Rufus Coates brought him comparisons with Nick Cave and created a beautiful contrast to the gentle vocals of his bandmate Jess Smith. The dense atmosphere of the music immediately draws the listener into another world and is perfectly suited to escape everyday life.
«These are dour blues songs that have enough beauty to lighten the hearth of the home.» — The Irish Times
Madeleine Duke writes with an honest vulnerability that touches her audiences. A soft and striking voice paired with electric guitar, her sound is melodic folk pop.
Having previously sung alongside Courtney Barnett, Ben Mason and in other Melbourne based bands (The Finks, Merri Creek Pickers) she branched out on her own in 2014, releasing her self-titled debut EP in late 2015. A second release is forthcoming.
We look forward to welcoming old and new faces and encourage you to spread the word to all your friends that we're building The Oblomov Sessions together to be a truly fantastic community!
