At Home in my Body
An Open Floor Workshop with Bodhi Nick Hunt
A weekend to explore our bodies as a moving landscape of embodied truth, using Open Floor resources. We as dancers can move from fixed to
fluid, grounded in our full experience and breathing into our embodied wonder with all its magic for how we function in the world.
Being at ‘home in the body’ is beautifully suited to ‘befriending’ the body with kindly awareness, and allowing us to remember that, as Jon Kabat-Zinn says, ‘as long as you are breathing, there is more right with your body than wrong with it’.
This workshop will be an invitation to explore the value of coming home to the body and stabilizing our attention with presence in the ‘here and now’. It is a simple practice of reclaiming and restoring our connection to the body with mindful awareness.
We will ask and listen to the body for wisdom:
— How do I show-up in my dance and where do I disappear?
— How to increase my movement range without over extending my energy?
— How to welcome body parts to move with freedom, grace and fluidity…
— What is my ‘magic’ and offering on the dance floor and in the world?
What is Open Floor?
“Open Floor” is a conscious movement practice that includes the body, heart, mind and spirit. Its purpose is to embody and engage our being in every instant and moment both on the dance floor and off.
Do I need any previous experience of dancing?
This workshop is for dancers who have had some previous experience of a conscious movement class. Prior to signing up we recommend that you have experience attending at the least one conscious movement class, such as FreedomDANCE, Biodanza, 5Rhythms, Open Floor or similar.
