VAGUE (Siluh Records/Wien)
HIGHEST SEA (Späti Palace/Berlin)

is an Indie-Post-Rock group from Vienna, Austria.
They released the critically acclaimed full-length debut „In the meantime“ on Siluh Records in April 2016.

«Weich wie Samt, melancholisch und zwanglos wie ein warmer, trüber Tag im Sommer: „In The Meantime“, die Debüt-LP von Vague, ist ein sehr elegantes Album, dessen Sound Post-Punk und Post-Rock verbindet und eine entschleunigte, nostalgische Atmosphäre kreiert.» (Pretty in Noise)

«Das Debüt der fünf Wiener schwingt und schwebt herrlich unaufgeregt zwischen dem Gitarrensound der 80er und 90er, zwischen Post-Punk, ein bisschen Shoegaze und ein bisschen Grunge. » (Musikexpress)

The sound of VAGUE draws inspiration from such different artists like Galaxie 500, Deerhunter or Yo la Tengo, but manages to find its very own niche.
Its unfamiliar close and distant at the same time ~ slow guitar jams framed by subtle jazzy rhythms give you the feeling of ease after a long term of grey days ~calm melodies swim underneath noisy pop patterns ~ just like a hint of your teenage daydream, their music creates an image to a neverending present embedded in precious memorys and some kind of fast future.
The vocals will pick you up somewhere in a corner at the back of your mind to carry you softly through nights and days on couches and kitchen floors, illuminated football fields and car backseats.
To sum it up: The music of Vague is the perfect soundtrack to a long shot of falling comfortably — a music for dreamers.

Now they are back on tour to give us a first impression of their upcoming release.

Highest Sea
It’s clear within moments of the first chord being struck that Highest Sea is taking us on a journey through uncharted territory. Leila Zanzibar’s unique brand of dreamy indie-rock ensnares us in an intricate web. Her off-key melodies and poetic lyrics reveal a melancholic soul who has swapped her sunny hometown in the south of France for Paris and finally for the inspiration of Berlin.
The «Haunted Hearts” EP unveals Zanzibar as the ultimate changeling with soaring vocal sweeps and raw emotional energy, power-pop melodies, minor chords and heavy air. Zanzibar alternates between raw, animal power, indie-pop coyness and aching vulnerability in turns. Everything is uncertain but we needn’t worry: before the night is over, Zanzibar is ready to apply some balm with an upbeat tempo, a loosely strummed guitar and a face-mask that says ‘for now we are fine’.
